This was fun. I'll probably make another one in the future. But the flower part was hard as heeeeeellll to do. I came across something about painting with oils, and decided to try it out on this, and hot damn! Never using anything else ever again. Painted like a dream. :}
Sculpy, clay pot, gravely stones, Oil paint Almost 1ft tall
I love how you took the pot and then put it on an oval base. Also the poil paints make it look somehow realistic due to the darker coloration as opposed to light bright colors.
I'm making a mini-maneating orchid hybrid sculpture and considered doing the same with a round bamboo pot on a more square base for stability since the plant's going to be pretty lop-sided, now that I see how well it works for top heavy sculptures, I might have to do something similar now.
Ughhhh, Sorry about the long overdue reply! Computer problems+College. :\
This was the first time I used oil paints for a sculpture, and I will probably be using them again if I do any more sculptural work. You can blend things much and you dont get that plastic feel/look that acrylic has.
Good luck with your piece! The bamboo pot on a base sounds like it would work really well, and the plus side is that you can decorate the base as well to give the piece more visual interest.
It's okay and You're welcome. I noticed you added the sculpture to your favorites, I changed my mind about the base but there's always a ton of other monsterous plant sculptures I can make.Sadly I did use acrylic on it and it does kind of look like plastic...with the exception of the petals.
